More snow!!

Up early this morning to fetch the sheep more hay from the Paul's barn. The power was off and as it had snowed all night long there was now around 18 inches of snow. Outside the silence was only broken my the snapping of tree branches under the weight of snow. The tractor ploughed and skidded through the snow but halfway to the barn it nearly skidded off the track, threatening to tumble down the bank with me on it. Fifteen minutes of delicate back and forward manoeuvres, digging and skidding and I was back on track. The journey back up the hill to the road was a similar affair more sideways than forward but eventually I got there with the hay.

I took Paul back to the airport in Toulouse. Between the house and St Girons dozens of trees had fallen across the road but fortunately they had been cleared earlier in the morning. I got home at about 3.30.

It is still snowing, but the weight of snow and a slight increase in temperature has allowed the snow pack to tamp down a little. The electricity is back on.
