Update

This week has been very busy - split between designing and building another roof truss for Martin, painting at Pont de la Taule and starting to build replacement shutters for Annie's barn.

Cette semaine j'etais très occupé - Le dessin et la fabrication d'une ferme du toit pour Martin, de la peinture à Pont de la Taule et la fabrication des volets pour Annie.

Nice truss, so many different ways they can be done, interesting. Keep up the good work. Chip

It's a copy (albeit with slightly different geometry) of the existing one in the main house...which is a copy of a traditional truss seen here occasionally in old barns. I'm sure these would spring the lower braces from the floor plate carrying the floor joists (so the floor could act as a tie to resist thrust not dealt with by the collar). The construction here is slightly different but there's a lot of RC in the walls and the roof is small (20' span) so the thrust isn't a problem.

RC = reinforced concrete??

Yes.
