EDF works

Fortunately only an inch of snow fell overnight. In the morning I went down to check on the sheep, Tara had rejected her lambs again and both of Leia’s lambs were looking chilled. She wasn’t letting them feed for long (their teeth are sharp and maybe I will have to file them a bit). I mixed up some artificial milk and gave both her lambs a dose, before reconstructing the adoption pen and putting Tara back in it, allowing her lambs to get a much need feed. Next I went out with the chainsaw and began trying to clear some of trees and branches in fields 1 and 2. The snow is still over a foot deep and heavy and in the end I gave up as it was proving too dangerous.

Heureusement que 2-3cm de neige sont tombés durant la nuit. Dans la matinée, je suis descendu pour souveiller les moutons, Tara avait rejeté ses agneaux a nouveau et deux agneaux Leia's font froides. Elle n'était pas leur téter pour longtemps (les dents sont aiguisé et peut-être je vais avoir à poncer les un peu). Je mélange un peu de lait artificiel et a donné ses deux agneaux d'une dose, avant de reconstituer le carcon et la mise Tara dedans, lui permettant agneaux pour obtenir un repas besoin de beaucoup. Ensuite, je suis sorti avec la tronçonneuse et a commencé à essayer de rétablir certains des arbres et des branches dans les domaines 1 et 2. The EDF arrived and began to replace the metal work on the serviceable poles. After a quick lunch I collected my trailer from Ian’s and went to St Girons to get more hay and some straw. Back at Quélébu the EDF succeeded in getting their tractor/crane/post-borer into upper field 1.

Le EDF est arrivé et a commencé à remplacer la ferraille sur les poteaux. Après un déjeuner rapide, je collectés ma remorque de Ian et se rendit à St Girons pour obtenir plus de foin et de la paille. Retour à Quélébu, le EDF a réussi à mettre leur tracteur / grue / post-perceur dans le champ 1.

Unfortunately once in place it broke down. The hole for the new post had to be dug by hand. I left them to it and got on with mucking out the barn. I let all the sheep and lambs (including Tara) out into the snow while got to work. Once it was all clean and full of fresh straw I brought the sheep back and put Tara back in the adoption pen. By now there were more than 20 people working to get the new electricity pole in place (EDF and subcontractors). Once the hole was dug the spare part arrived for the tractor and the new pole was craned into position and cemented in place.

Malheuresment fois en place, il est en panne. Le trou pour le nouveau poteau a dû être creusé à la main. Je les ai laissé à lui et j'ai défumier la grange. Je laisse tous les moutons et agneaux (y compris Tara) dans la neige tandis que se mettent au travail. Une fois que tout était propre et plein de la paille fraîche j'ai mis les mouton dedans et mis Tara sur le carcon. A présent, il y avait plus de 20 personnes qui travaillent pour obtenir le poteau électrique en place de nouvelles (EDF et sous-traitants). Une fois le trou a été creusé la pièce de rechange est arrivé pour le tracteur et le nouveau mât a été tendu en position et cimentée en place.

The tractor couldn’t get out of the field and after digging itself into a vast muddy hole it was eventually assisted by a winch and succeeded. The scale of the clean-up is still daunting but there is little I can do until the snow melts. Number one priority is trying to keep the lambs alive.

Le tracteur ne pouvait pas sortir du terrain et après avoir creusé lui-même dans un trou boueux vaste qu'il a finalement été secondé par un treuil et réussi. L'ampleur de l'e degagement est encore immense, mais il y a peu que je peux faire jusqu'à ce que la fonte des neiges. Priorité numéro un est essayant de garder les agneaux vivants.

Apparently, the phones might be repaired by the end of next week, but only if all the lines are accessible. It seems the responsibility to keep the phone lines free of obstructions is the Marie’s. I’m not the only one with a daunting task ahead!

Apparemment, les téléphones pourrait être réparé d'ici la fin de la semaine prochaine, mais seulement si toutes les lignes sont accessibles. Il semble que la responsabilité de garder les lignes téléphoniques libres de toute obstruction est la Marie. Je ne suis pas le seul à avoir une tâche ardue d'avance!
