Now we are six

The hot weather continues and with the chainsaw at the menders, the tree clearance is on hold. I repaired and peened the scythe then scythed the bracken in all the fields - there is very little, if any, in my original fields now but the new fields still require some attention.

Early this morning I went for a walk down to the stream and up the wooded hillside opposite. I could see there are some pretty huge clearings opened in the forest following the snowfall a few weeks ago and I wanted to see the view from them.

Le temps chaud continue et avec la tronçonneuse à la usine, la déblayance des arbres est en attente. J'ai réparé et tappé la faux, puis fauché la fougère dans tous les domaines - il y a très peu dans mes prés d'origines, mais maintenant les nouveaux prés ont besoin l'attention.

Tôt ce matin je suis allé faire une promenade vers la rivière et la colline boisée en face. Je pouvais voir il y a quelques clairières assez énorme ouverture dans la forêt après la chute de neige il y a quelques semaines et je voulais voir la vue d'eux.

For the first time and I can see my house opposite and Coumelary (where Minsou and Dédé live and Louise, Annie and Lucette have their house).

Pour la première fois je peux voir ma maison d'en face et Coumelary (où Minsou et Dédé vivre et Louise, Annie et Lucette ont leur maison).

Back home for breakfast at 9.00 then off to look at some old machinery which is for sale - a big bandsaw (1940's), a baler (1950's) and a modern mower. Have made offers on all three.

Rentre pour le petit déjeuner à 9h00, puis partir afin voir à des vieux mécanisme qui est à vendre - une scie à ruban (1940), une presse à balles (1950) et un girobroyeur modern. Ont fait des offres sur les trois.

The remaining sheep were sheared - Leia whose fleece is the most difficult to cut and finally the ram! He's a big beast and there was quite a battle before I finally had him subdued - 150lb of testerone enriched muscle versus....well....a sheep! Barely an hour after I had finished one of the sons of La Pancharde arrived (completely unannounced) to collect him. His sheep are going up to the estive (mountain pastures) in a week or so and they want him there with the herd. Had I known I wouldn't have bothered shearing him as they aren't shearing their sheep until next week. I caught Rambo and the son took him away tied to a bit of rope (his flock were in the field down by the stream). It was a tug-o-war all the way. So now there are just the 6 ewes and the 4 lambs.

Les derniers moutons ont tondus. Leia - la plus difficile à tonder et enfin le bélier! Il est une grosse bête et il y avait une bataille avant de finalement lui avait soumis - 70kg de muscle enrichi testerone contre .... un mouton! Seulement une heure après avoir terminé l'un des fils de La Pancharde est arrivé (tout à fait inopinée) le chercher. Ses brebis vont vers l'estive dans une semaine ou deux. Si j'avais su, je n'aurais pas pris la peine de eondue lui. J'ai attrapé Rambo et le fils l'ont emmené attaché à un bout de corde (son troupeau etait dans le pré a coté du ruisseau). Il était un "tug-o-war" tout la route. Alors maintenant, il y a juste les 6 brebis et les 4 agneaux.

Every night this week there have been fresh strawberries from the garden.

Chaque soir, cette semaine il y a eu des fraises fraîches du jardin.
