No rain

At last a day without rain!

Last night there was a dinner for those who helped with the tree clearance and my back was agony! I thought that today I would be bedridden but in fact it isn't too bad. A walk over to John and Sandrine's in the morning loosened it up, then after weeding the vegetable garden I cut all the grass (and weeds) on the land all around Quélébu.

A trip to Carbouérat in the afternoon to search for some last bargains. The lovely Nancy gave me some zinc guttering and accessories, some more champagne bottles and I bought her old rotavator. The latter needs some work to get it going. With some more bottles, I've put another 10 litres of elderflower champagne on the go. Whilst looking for the elderflowers, I found some girolles (chanterelles) which went well with the wildboar steaks, challots and garlic I had for dinner.

With 3-4 days of hot sunny weather forecast, I think I'll start the hay harvest tomorrow by cutting Paul's field (or probably half of it tomorrow and half the day after). The 85cm scythe blade is peened and sharpened and ready to go at dawn tomorrow.
